Key Options for 2018 G20 Trade and Investment Agenda for Sustainable Development

The objective of this workshop is two-fold. Firstly, to support TIWG officials to reflect on what G20 can and should do on trade and investment policy cooperation, with a special focus on the multilateral trading system and anti-protectionism, a sustainable food future, and an inclusive digital economy. Secondly, to offer a neutral space for information exchange and frank discussion outside of formal negotiating settings, where consensus-building can be facilitated - and new ideas freely explored.

After COP 21 in Paris, negotiators have a mandate to create a rulebook to ensure that this, and other parts of the PA become operational. Negotiators are aiming for completing this task in 2018 at COP 23.

This side event is an opportunity for stakeholders to be briefed by and enter in discussion with some of the most knowledge participants in these negotiations to understand the progress and challenges towards the implementation of Article 6 of the PA.
